Dog Update
Our Blue Heeler was on Prednisone almost a couple of months tapering down, but she is finally off and doing well. She is still on anti-fungal for Valley Fever, but I think she's fine.

Behold the Power of Manure
We are not real gardeners who know what to do with the plants. We are more of a "let's get some vegetable from Lowe's and plant them in the garden and see how they grow" kind of gardeners.
Sewing equivalent of buying a fabric at Wal-Mart and make a tote bag kind of sewer, I guess.
We needed to add soil to the garden this year, so we bought bags of soil and amended the soil. I am no soil expert, so my fertilizer cocktail is basically manure, peat moss, and vermiculite. Peat moss and vermiculite is more to retail water in the soil than as a fertilizer.
We put a lot of manure this year and the garden smelled like a farm for a few days. I guess the vegetables liked it a lot and we are getting more peppers than we can consume. (What am I supposed to do with so many jalapenos every day?)
The two eggplants we planted 3 years ago survived 2 winters and they are going strong this year again.
"Matt's Wild Cherry" tomatoes are growing like crazy, and growing out of nowhere near we had it last year. Definitely wild. Unfortunately, it grows like a jungle and eventually it will cover the whole garden so I pull them out as I find them growing where they are not suppose to be.

Pepper Collections
Our peppers from the garden. From the front, Shishito pepper, jalapeno, banana pepper, and big jim.
The second year shishito is doing so good that we can't keep up with them. I sauteed them with butter this time. Jarapenos and big jims went in the taco meat.
Banana peppers were consumed as stuffed banana peppers.

More Lemons
Got more lemons from our former lime tree and made a lemon cake. (Well, 2 loaves, actually)
The Man of the House took some to work to give away and someone tried to eat it thinking it was an orange. They don't look like lemon but they are definitely lemon.

Lemons
Lemons from our lime tree. (The lime part of the tree died from the frost a few years ago and the root stock part of the tree, which was lemon, has grown perfectly healthy.)
I don't think these lemons are any less quality just because it was a root stock. They look rather round for a lemon but perfectly tart.
I'm looking for a good recipe that uses a lot of lemons but other than lemonade, not very many recipes call for more than a table spoon of juice.
I made a batch of lemon bar, which only used 3 lemons (2/3 cup).
Hmmmm what can I make with buckets of lemons to come...

State of the Garden
2 seedlings in the spring turned into an overgrown tomato jungle.
Overflow growth (aka sucker galore) is now bigger than what's in the garden.

Return of the Tomatoes
Our tomato plant has been somewhat dormant for the past month like I was in this hot weather but it has started to grow fruit again.
The plan is now overgrown too much: pretty much suckers galore. (And I have no intention to work on the yard in this weather)
I don't think enough nutrient goes each end of the plant and that's why each fruit is so tiny now. Well, I don't eat them, so that's ok. It's just bitch to pick all these tiny ones.

Bougainvillea in Bloom
Our bougainvillea that we planted last year and chopped off to a 4 inch high from the winter frost has finally gotten well enough to bloom.

Heat Wave Continues
Holy shit it's hot.
This weekend is going to be a sewing weekend.

Summer Success
Our garden is doing really good this year.
The two eggplants that we planted last year have been loving the summer. I had never eating this much of eggplants before; rather, I am probably eating more eggplants this season than all the eggplants I had in my life combined.
I heard that one out of ten shishito peppers is hot but so far all of our shishitoes are mild.

Matt's Wild Cherry
We have never been this successful with out tomatoes before and the Man of the House is very happy with our overgrowing Matt's Wild Cherry tomatoes.
I usually make an easy tomato salad with sweet basil from the garden and balsamic vinegar for him.
No matter how precious the tomatoes are to me for having grown them from the seeds, I still do not like tomatoes.

Matt's Wild Cherry
The Man of the House grew a few Matt's Wild Cherry seeds during the winter. Two of the seedlings were planted in this peninsula part of the raised flower bed. Just two. They have grown to be green wall of wild creature. There were strawberries next to them too but can't even see them any more.
The plants really grow wild. Its stems, despite my effort of getting rid of the suckers (I'm a sucker police) grow everywhere. There is a fan palm behind it and the stems are just growing around the palm tree using the palm tree as a support. You can barely see the very top of the fan palm.
I plead MOTH to cut off the cascading part of the stems but oh no, he's so babying these tomato plants.
