Kosice Top #2

Since the kimono refashioned version was slightly off in terms of the fit, I made it again. The pattern is Kosice Top & Dress from Itch to Stitch.

Last time, I cut a size 4 with size 2 at the bust. This time, I cut a straight size 2. I also shortened 1" above bust to raise the bust darts.

The fabric is rayon challis. It's a perfect weight for this blouse. It had this bandanna-like pattern, and I tried really really hard to match the pattern at the center front and center back, and I think I nailed it... Only that when I finished it and put it on, I realized that I have this lactating wet nipple effect... Oh well.

Worn together with my Jalie Eleonore pull-on jeans.

Kimono Refashion: Shibori Kosice Top

I made a blouse out of a men's old yukata (casual kimono) sash that my mother had sent to me years ago. The fabric is very light, like challis, and has this shibori patterns at the either end of the long narrow fabric.

I cut a size 4, except size 2 at the bust.

The pattern called for a 1/2" elastic for the shoulder gather and the sleeve hem but I used 1/4" elastic instead. I don't think it made much difference.

I tried really hard to preserve the shibori texture, but it's hard not to press it out!

This is a very dainty blouse and very delicate with light weight fabric. I like the rather surprising V-shaped back neck.

The fit is not quite perfect. The bust darts were too low for me and size 4 was a bit loose. But I'm glad I was able to make something out of this vintage fabric.

Summer Renfrew #2

Another Sewaholic Renfrew that I made last year. According to my record, I made it last October. I only wore it once before the weather got too cold.

Since I was making multiple Renfrews in succession at the time, I traced the pattern onto a poster board. It's so much easier to cut. The specs are the same as my white stripe version: V-neck, short sleeves, size 6, shortened 1", and overlapped neckband at the V point.

The fabric was brushed rayon/Lycra jersey. Since it's thin and stretchy, I added a twill tape along shoulder and back neck line.

Worn together with McCall's 6966 maxi skirt.

Summer Renfrew

I made a very summery shirt. Well, I actually made it last summer. By the time I finished it (I don't even remember why it took 2 months to finish), the weather had turned too cool for a white short sleeve shirt, so it sat in my closet over the winter.

The pattern is my tried-and-true Sewaholic Renfrew. Last time, it was a white stripe on navy, but this time it is a navy stripe on white. I'm only showing the side that the stripes matched :P

The fabric was cotton french terry from Joann. I cut a size 6, shortened the bodice by 1", and straightened the hem so that stripes remain horizontal. (The pattern has a slight curve)

As my usual method of V-neck application, I overlapped the neckband ends at the "V."
I actually made three Renfrews in succession last year. Definitely a wardrobe staple.

Basement Again

Now that my new room is completed, we are working on my old room.
Oh, it's so dark in here compared to my new room. There is only this tiny window in this room. Even though the window is facing south, it's actually about 18 inches above the ground and it's wooded outside so not much light comes in. And the ceiling fan light really sucks...

We already finished painting last week and we worked on the floor yesterday. The original floor was a vinyl on concrete so we are using the vinyl floor as a moisture barrier and just gluing the floor down on top of it.

We need to get some shoe molding to hide the floor-base board junction, and MOTH is also planning to do something about the ceiling.

I'm still making masks. While I was waiting for elastics, I made a big batch of 94 masks.
The clinic that I gave the masks brought a potted flower.
And I put my bunting from England over the window. I never buy flowers so I'm certainly enjoying the limited view of this prettiness.
